What could happen if I don't use a filter with my Alarm system?

Once again, you should only use a filter if you have DSL.
Assuming you have DSL, and you are not using a filter with your alarm system. Then the following will happen: Your DSL service will be very very slow, and/or intermittent.  Worse of all, your alarm system will not worked when actually needed.

Does my alarm system need to have a Filter installed?

Only if you have DSL service. With Fios you don't need it anymore.
If you have DSL service, then your alarm system does need a filter.  But don't use a regular filter, it needs a different type of filter, such filter should be provided by your alarm system provider. In most cases your internet service provider will only send you regular filters.

My Verizon modem's Wi-Fi does not work.

If your Verizon modem's Wi-Fi is not working, it could be for 2 reason. 
Some Verizon modems have a Wireless bottom, make sure your the switch is ON, if it is off, it won't broadcast a Wi-Fi signal. 
If your modem does not have a wireless bottom, and it still does not broadcast a signal, then your modem is not working fine. Call Verizon and they should help you replace it.

What is the username and password to access my Verizon modem?

The username will always be admin. 
The password will change depending on the model number. 
Here are some examples of what the password could be: 
Possible passwords: admin, password, admin1 password1 or below the modem there could be an option that says username and passphrase. The passphrase will be the password to access the modem.

Do I need to install a DSL filter to my modem?

NOOOOOOO. Please don't use a DSL filter with your modem.  For the Filter's job is to block the dsl signal. The filters should be use in any device that connects to a wall jack. Any but the modem. Some examples could be, Direct Tv, Faxes, Alarm systems, etc. Remember everything but the modem.
